GUYTON - Steven A. Hill, 81, of Guyton, died Sunday, March 2, 2014 surrounded by his loving family under the care of Gentiva Hospice.
Mr. Hill was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy. He was a parishioner of St. James Catholic Church. He was a member of Springfield Masonic Lodge # 440 F&AM and was a member of the Hillbilly Unit and the Mobile Unit of the Alee Shrine Temple.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Josephine Hill, father, Thomas L. Hill, mother, Virginia Hill, and brothers, Reese Hill and Claude Larry Hill.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Hill of Guyton, GA; his brother Quay Hill Carolyn of Savannah, GA; his daughters and sons-in-law: David and Susan Carpenter of Savannah, GA; Scott and Patricia Dickinson of Savannah, GA; Gary and Sharon Gill of Savannah, GA; Teresa Smith of Jacksonville, FL and an adopted daughter, Nancy Shell, of Dunlap, TN, and step-son, Greg Willingham of Savannah, GA. Steve has many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with Rosary Service to be said from 6:00-6:30pm.
Funeral Mass: 12:00 p.m. Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am until 12:00 pm.
Interment: Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Papa Steve that was his name for me. many summer breaks spent in the mountains. that was best time of year for me. From learning to ride horses him walking beside me , from fishing in the ponds in Savannah, to alligator hunting, to riding the golf carts there are so many memories. I was blessed to have 27 wonderful years of my life with one of the greateat man to walk this earth and I thank god for giving me the blessing of getting to spend the last 6 weeks with helping my papa and ben would come down to spend time with papa on weekends when monday came he didnt want to leave bens fav saying of papa's was 'us Hills gotta stick together ' And I know Stevie has memories too like your ride to shriners meet y'all missed then rode around town and just talked, him riding him around in papa' s truck ,both talking about who gets marieta i know we all have memories will always cherish!
